Elton fans will love this…and if you’re not an Elton fan, you will be by the time the movie ends. A great story about the rise of a non traditional rock star and becoming worthy of love. (Also, Taron Eagerton: take a bow, sir- was that you really singing?! Wow.) I was entertained by THE great entertainer. 1 watch check. You can rent it…but hopefully you have the sound turned way up if you do. Not Ryan’s type of movie, he’d likely be snoring away 10 minutes in.

Like a cockroach, John Wick will not die. He’s back and still fighting the world. Like Bond, Bourne and Hunt- he has 9 lives. If action movies are your thing, you’ll enjoy this. A man of very few words but awesome skills, Wick is fun to root for (& a perfect role for Keanu Reeves) after all, the man loves his doggies. 3 watch checks with lots of eye rolls. It’s better on the big screen but you can rent it. Ryan would stay awake for this one.

If you liked “There’s Something About Mary”, you’ll dig this movie. Funny, heartwarming with some “ick” moments. Not super believable but we all wish it could be. 2 watch checks and totally rentable…but a fun one to see when you need a laugh.

You know that feeling when you’re reading a great book and you don’t want to read the last chapter because then it will be over…but you also want to see how it ends? That’s what this movie is like. If superhero movies are your thing, you will love it. Go to the theater- it’s worth it! If there was ever a movie to see on the big screen, it’s this one. Zero watch checks for me (and zero bathroom breaks -which was pretty impressive)! Ryan would stay awake for sure. i’m already ready to watch it again.

I was scared to see this one and now I’m scratching my head…uhhhh I don’t really get it. It’s creepy and suspenseful and will keep your heart pumping but it doesn’t explain much. This is where my watch check system fails me- I was too busy covering my eyes to look at my watch! But I did check it twice…probably would’ve checked another time if I could have pulled my eyes away. So many bunnies. Not as good as Get Out but if you like to be freaked out, this one’s for you. Ryan would for sure stay awake for it but would be just as confused as I am.

Beautiful story. Horses have quite an effect on even the hardest hearts and can change people. This movie shows an example of a slice of life we’d likely never know about: prisoners training wild mustangs. (I love it when movies open my eyes to something I didn’t know about- who needs libraries? LOL) It’s a slow burn of a movie but a good one. Rentable- although the shots of the wild mustangs running on the hills is quite stunning on the big screen. 2 watch checks. Not one for Ryan, he’d likely snooze a bit.

Bravery comes in all sorts of forms and sometimes from people you least expect. This movie is a great example of that. I love true stories that inspire me. 2 watch checks (it’s a long one) and it’s rentable but I recommend seeing it! Sam Rockwell & Taraji P Hensen are both amazing in it. Also a great movie for teens -a great example of doing the right thing no matter what your friends think. I think Ryan would stay awake through this one.

How do I not remember this horrible event? It was in 2008, not even that long ago! This movie is a highly suspenseful journey filled with great performances. Only 1 watch check and Ryan would definitely stay awake during this one! It could be rented but there isn’t a lot out at the theaters right now and this one is worth going to!

Bring tissues. Tragic young love is still a great plot line, teenage girls will swoon over this one. Living (& dying) with cystic fibrosis is brutal but I do like a movie that teaches me about something I don’t know much about. When you’re needing a good cry, rent this one…you can skip the theater (unless maybe you’re on a first date, then go and have a hanky at the ready). 3 watch checks, Ryan would be snoozing in the first 10 minutes.

Don’t mess with her. Thought this was a pretty good superhero movie, some plot twists I didn’t see coming. Was cool to see a young Nick Fury! I wish there had been more about Carol’s life before but still super fun visual effects. Big screen movie for sure. 3 watch checks. Ryan would for sure stay awake!
